Relevant Experience:

Represented a national entrepreneur in an LCIA arbitration (seated in London) against an international truck manufacturer for breach of investment obligations under a joint venture agreement that aimed to create one of the largest truck manufacturers in Brazil. The amount in dispute was BRL 1 billion.

Represented a national retail bank in an ICC arbitration (seated in New York). The dispute arose from breaches of a share purchase agreement (SPA) involving the acquisition of the commercial operations of another bank in Brazil. The amount in dispute exceeded USD 250 million.

Represented the national subsidiary of a foreign energy group in a CCBC arbitration (seated in São Paulo) concerning issues related to the construction of a thermoelectric power plant in northeastern Brazil. The amount in dispute exceeded BRL 800 million.

Represented a steel company in an ICC arbitration (seated in Rio de Janeiro) against companies in the industrial gases sector. The dispute involved failures in the implementation of an industrial facility. The amount in dispute exceeded BRL 300 million.

Represented the national subsidiary of a foreign energy company in a CCBC arbitration (seated in São Paulo) against the national subsidiary of another foreign energy company. The dispute, which exceeded BRL 150 million, involved breaches of representations and warranties under an SPA for the sale of certain brownfield assets.

Represented a foreign conglomerate in an ICC arbitration (seated in São Paulo) against a national bank. The dispute involved post-closing contingencies and breaches of representations and warranties related to the sale of a securities brokerage firm in Brazil. The amount in dispute exceeded BRL 150 million.

Represented the controlling shareholder of a grain terminal company in two corporate arbitrations (CAM/B3, seated in São Paulo) against minority shareholders. The dispute concerned the legality of capital increases totaling BRL 100 million.

Represented an automotive parts company in a CCBC arbitration (seated in São Paulo) against a foreign automobile manufacturer. The dispute, amounting to BRL 100 million, concerned the non-performance of a surface rights agreement for the use of an industrial facility.

Represented an agricultural chemicals company in a writ of mandamus filed against the national environmental agency (IBAMA), challenging 289 notices of violation totaling BRL 1.3 billion.

Represented a sanitation sector company in various lawsuits concerning the company’s privatization process.
